We had heard rumours of a fantastic ice cream being made by Foxy and Rob in the beautiful village of Bodiam, and we had to go and have a look.
We were sold from the first bite, but happily managed to slurp our way through about 10 scoops – of course we had to taste it all and check it was all good (it was!). Foxy and Rob ensure that the way their icecream is made is as ethical as it can be. They use local produce, using milk and cream from the celebrated Northiam Dairy which is just up the road. They use biodegradable packaging and all ice cream is ‘fresh’ and is best eaten within two weeks as there are no artificial products used in order to give a lengthy shelf life.
It is pure, creamy and utterly delicious. The ingredients are British sugar, Sussex milk and cream, pasteurized egg yolks and then the chosen flavour. My favourites were the dark chocolate and the blackcurrant (using blackcurrants from Maynard’s Farm up the road). Andrew’s favourites were the pistachio and almond and plum steeped in earl grey tea.
We fully recommend trying this icecream when you’re in The Crown – we can definitely vouch for its deliciousness!
